EIGHTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPUTERS AND THE HUMANITIES

In conjunction with the Association for Computers and the Humanities, the Department of Computer Science at the University of South Carolina is pleased to announce the Eighth International Conference on Computers and the Humanities from April 8-12, 1987, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Papers are invited for presentation at ICCH87 on all aspects of computer research in the humanities--literature, linguistics, history, music, visual arts--as well as on topics appropriate to the humanities in the computer sciences and education. The conference will have an exhibit hall for books, journals, hardware, and software.

FIFTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON WRITING ASSESSMENT

The National Testing Network in Writing, The New Jersey Department of Higher Education, and The City University of New York announce the Fifth Annual Conference on Writing Assessment from April 5-7, 1987 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

This national conference is for educators, administrators, and assessment personnel and will be devoted to critical issues in assessing writing in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary settings. Discussion topics will include theories and models of writing assessment, assessing writing across the curriculum, the impact of testing on minority and ESL students, computer applications, and current research in writing assessment.

CALL FOR PAPERS: NINTH NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COLLEGE LEARNING ASSISTANCE CENTERS

The Office of Special Academic Services announces the Ninth National Conference on College Learning Assistance Centers to be held May 14-16, 1987 on the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York.

Paper proposals for this conference are now being accepted. Proposals should be practical in nature, run 200-250 words in length, and address topics such as computer-assisted instruction, program evaluation, critical thinking skills, cognitive skills, and materials development. Workshops should be planned for 75-minute sessions. Please submit all proposals by February 1, 1987. Include your title, department, office and home telephone numbers, equipment needs, and a brief biography or resume. Submit five copies of all proposals.
