Joan Vesper of the Marketing Department at the University of Washington sends us this note from a student submitting a late paper:

"The night before my term paper was due I was ready for the final dump on paper when the system died. What apparently happened was, this was my scratch disk and it had other work on other sectors, and so it appears that when I downloaded it, the computer stored it in a bad sector and I kept getting an error sign. And that was 2 a.m. in the morning, I certainly wasn't going to go back and flower it up with page numbers and so forth because I was afraid that if I pushed DELETE I'd lose everything."

Richard Elias, Department of English, Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio 43015 asks "who is experimenting with DEC computers, specifically the VAX (running VMS or UNIX)? It would be useful to trade ideas."
